FIFA appoints NFF President, Pinnick into Organising Committee for Competitions

World football –ruling body, FIFA, has named the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, into one of its most important committees – the Organising Committee for Competitions.
Hitherto, the world body had different committees for organization of its several competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, FIFA Confederations Cup, FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFA U20 World Cup, FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, FIFA U17 World Cup, FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Pinnick was a member of the Organising Committee for the FIFA U20 World Cup.However, at its 66th Congress in Mexico City on 12th– 13th May 2016, and in accordance with the revised FIFA Statutes that came into force on 27th April 2016, the model of the standing committees was reviewed, cutting the number from 26 to 9.

The new model has only the following committees: Governance, Finance, Development, Member Associations, Referees, Players’ Status, Football Stakeholders, Medical, Organising Committee for FIFA Competitions.

Pinnick’s letter of appointment, dated 18th January 2017 and signed by Fatma Samoura, the Secretary General, read inter alia: “We are very pleased to inform you that you have been appointed as a member of the Organising Committee for FIFA Competitions. We wish you our sincere congratulations on this appointment.

“The FIFA administration is at your disposal through the following Administration Officer, who will be in contact with you regarding the upcoming meetings and any further aspects relating to your office as a member of this committee: Colin Smith, Chief Competitions Officer.
“We wish you great success and enjoyment in this role at FIFA and look forward to welcoming you soon to Zurich.”

The Organising Committee for FIFA Competitions is headed by Aleksander Ceferin, President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). The tenure of members is for 2017-2021. In line with the new FIFA reforms, each proposed member of any of the committees was made to go through a comprehensive integrity check conducted by several organizations of global relevance and stature.

Pinnick’s appointment, and in particular the thorough and painstaking checks that he passed with full marks, is a big thumbs –up for Nigerian Football, and puts out the light on the unsavory innuendoes and deliberate mischief of a few individuals intent on putting the country’s game under a cloud.

As a member of the CAF Organising Committee for the Africa Cup of Nations, Pinnick is presently at the 31st Africa Cup finals ongoing in Gabon, and will be match commissioner for Saturday’s potentially –explosive West African derby between Mali and Ghana.

The new member of the Organising Committee for FIFA Competitions, who swivelled through the ranks of football administration (from board member to second vice chairman, first vice chairman and chairman of Delta State Football Association, to Executive Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission before his election as President of Nigeria Football Federation in September 2014), is also a candidate for election into the Executive Committee of Confederation of African Football.

The CAF elections will take place at the 39th Ordinary General Assembly of the organization in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 16th March.

China might refuse to give Nigeria $20bn loan (Read)

The Chinese government might refuse to approve a $20 billion concession loan earlier promised Nigeria.

According to The Guardian, a source in the Nigerian presidency has revealed that the FG was quite keen on getting the loan since the relationship between Nigeria and China, had improved.

There will be a disappointment when signs appeared that the money might be withheld. The reasons given include the multiple negative growth recorded in the Nigerian economy in 2016.


It is a very obvious that their might be a loss of confidence in Nigeria’s credit worthiness by the global financial community.

“This is not to say we have given up though. We had set up an inter-ministerial committee working closely with the Chinese government officials as well as the China Exim Bank experts.

Last year, there was high hopes that the concession loan and other categories of financial assistance from China would be approved early, President Muhammadu Buhari led a delegation to Beijing in April last year to make a strong case for the country.

However, economic experts who visited Nigeria for physical assessment advised the Chinese government to exercise caution, citing the shrinking economy and falling value of the naira.

These experts also spoke of the high risks in perting the loan to projects not specified in the agreement and requested a direct monitoring of the projects, in addition to the need for full compilation of all current trade agreements between the two countries till date.

The team of experts, who were from China Exim Bank had also expressed fear of possible mismanagement of the funds and requested an overhaul of some of the priority areas presented by the Federal Government for examination on their viability and sustainability.

Despite all this, a ministry official, who reportedly sent a text message to The Guardian, said: “All appropriate loan prospecting options by the federal ministry of finance are on course, and are undergoing normal process of negotiation.”

Meanwhile, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi has blamed the Nigerian government for the current economic situation.

Sanusi who served as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan said this during the15th meeting of the joint planning board and national council on development planning.

MMM Issues Instructions To Members Ahead Of Resumption (Read)

On preparation for its expected return on January 14, the Ponzi scheme Mavordi Mondial Movement (MMM) promoters have issued instructions to its participants whose accounts were frozen, to perform “Promo Tasks: A New Tool for MMM Community Development.”

The MMM message to subscribers said the tasks, which should be done both online and offline, will promote the scheme and drive “traffic and participation” by the time the restriction on the account is lifted.


“Being an MMM member implies not only opportunities, but also a responsibility for the state and development of the MMM Community”, the message said.

The information raises hopes of the almost three million Nigerians who invested in the scheme, following the ban on withdrawals on December 3, 2016.

On January 2, the scheme on its official Twitter handle, @MMMNigeriaHelp disclosed that participants’ accounts will be unfrozen on January 14.

Some of the participants have taken to social media to give reasons why the scheme should return.

MMM was a Russian company that perpetrated one of the world’s largest Ponzi schemes of all time, in the 1990s. By different estimates from five to 40 million people lost up to $10 billion. The exact figures are not known even to the founders.

BREAKING! OYEGUN MAY GET AMBASSADORIAL JOB

There were also indications that former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole is being considered to succeed APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun if the chairman accepts an ambassadorial posting for which he is being considered by the Presidency.

Although Oyegun’s tenure is due to end in 2018, some power brokers in the Presidency are pushing for a “choice ambassadorial appointment for him in appreciation of his role in defeating the PDP in 2015.”


Oshiomhole is said to be favored by some APC governors for the post in view of his antecedent as a labor leader.

But some APC leaders want Oyegun to serve his full term in office instead of being “compensated.’
Another source added: “From the look of things, Oyegun may get an ambassadorial posting which will make him to technically vacate office. They said Oyegun deserves a befitting appointment for leading an opposition party to defeat a ruling party.
“Some forces in the Presidency are looking forward to Oshiomhole as a respectable figure who can fit into the big shoes of Oyegun.

“Those who support Oyegun see ambassadorial appointment for a politician as a “sort of exile” which is not good. They are reading a plot into the offer in order to ease out the APC National Chairman.”
Also yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari met with Oshiomhole at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Oshiomhole’s visit was his first to the seat of government since leaving office in November.
Asked by State House correspondents to state his mission to the Villa, the former governor simply said he was there to exchange pleasantries with President Buhari in the spirit of the time.

Many communities like Red Cross, Boys Brigade, Lions Club, Rotary Club, FGBMF etc came to Nigeria, Nigerians made them work and they are still growing up till this day. We can make this also last as long as we want. As long as people’s emancipation is at the center of it, God has the duty to sustain it.

We want to specially thank all of you whose faith has never shaken for once even in the darkest hours, it shows you have overcome the power of money in your life, you looked beyond the imperfections, system failures and incessant external aggressions, you stood for Givers Forum, God will surely stand for you in 2017 and beyond. Come January 26th through 28th 2017, leaders in Givers Forum shall converge on Abuja for a special retreat and Ideas Conference from where STATE COORDINATORS shall emerge. Only participants with at least 20 active downlines who have never defaulted before are expected to be in attendance (Five from each state of the federation). Such participants should have been consistent in providing help at least once a month in the last three months.
