Miss Malaika 2015; Kukua Bagged The Award

After weeks of rigorous, intensive and a journey to self-discovery, Kukua Korsah, a graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology was crowned Miss Malaika 2015.

Kukua, who describes herself as a “go-getter”, free-spirited and always wants to speak her mind, outclassed her fellow contestants to win the coveted title.

She went pass nine other intelligent, smart and beautiful girls to annex the crown of Miss Malaika 2015.

Kukua fell into a moment of shock as her name was mentioned as the winner with tears flowing down her cheeks.


What stood her out from the other contestant were her eloquence, beauty and intelligence. And above all, her talent on the night posing as ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas addressing some social issues the country is bedeviled with.

Judges for the night were celebrated actor John Dumelo, international model Victoria Michael, former Malaika delegate and now entrepreneur Gwenyth Gyimah, ace sports journalist Nathaniel Attoh and Execuive Director for Charterhouse, Theresa Ayoade.

The night also saw Nana Antwiwaa Nuamah and Martha Daniels as first and second runner-ups respectively.

Kukua’s prize package included a Kia saloon car, undisclosed amount of cash, scholarship opportunity and other souvenirs from sponsors.

The night was electrified with music from sexy MzVee, award winning dancehall artiste Stonebwoy and Eazzy.

They thrilled the audience with their scintillating music and stage craft.

FCT Queen; 19-Year-Old Undergraduate Wins MBGA 2015 Pageant


Miss Debbie Douglas, 19-year-old Political Science student of Nasarawa State University, has won the 2015 edition of the Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja (MBGA) beauty pageant.

The Cross River State born beauty queen beat 31 other contestants on Sunday to emerge the new FCT Queen.

This year’s edition of the MBGA pageant, which started in 2001 and organised by Dolce Entertainment Ltd, marked the 15th anniversary of the annual event.

NAN report that the contest is organised annually to discover and develop beauty queens in the FCT.
Mr Ejiro Okpihwo, Chief Executive, Dolce Entertainment, said that the MBGA pageant serve as platform to empower young Nigerian ladies from different background.

He added that it also helped to create employment opportunities for many people in the entertainment industry.
 Okpihwo said that the MBGA was now a popular brand in pageantry business in Nigeria and beyond, adding that it had created several opportunities for previous contestants and winners.

“In the past 10 years, we have given out over 10 cars to winners consistently and empowered them to carry out pet projects that have impacted the community positively”, he said.

Douglas, the new beauty Queen, was presented with a brand new Pontiac car and undisclosed cash award.

She spoke amidst tears of joy on what she intended to do during her reign as the FCT beauty queen in the next 12 months.
“It was really tough contesting for one crown with 31 persons. I am thrilled that I emerged the winner.

“I thank God for his grace and the organiser for giving me the opportunity to participate in this contest.

“I will use my office to preach peace and tolerance among Nigerians and will also be involved in leadership mentoring for teenagers, as leaders of tomorrow.

“I will work as an ambassador of peace and positive change agent in the life of young people,” she said.

Douglas noted that combining the responsibilities of her new office with the demands of studies as a 300 level student in the university would be tasking.

She however expressed optimism that with her passion and hard work, she would succeed in the task ahead.

The first to the fifth runners up of the pageant, were named MBGA’s ambassadors and models for 2015.

Some upcoming and established Nigerian music artistes and comedians performed at the event which was held at the congress hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

Music Video: Sarkodie Performs “Mary” With Live Band


Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie not long ago released his fourth studio album, “Mary”. The 11-track album was named after his grandmother who passed on years ago. According to Sarkodie, his old lady wanted him to work with live band. In view of that, he decided to release this album with all the tracks recorded live.


Obidi was at University of Ghana, Legon campus for the “Mary” album launch not long ago. Sarkodie together with Efya and Akwaboah performed most of the tracks on the album with live band. Sarkodie at the concert performed the title track of the album “Mary”.

Zurich Film Festival’s Honored Arnold Schwarzenegger With ‘Icon’ Prize



The Zurich Film Festival’s honoured Action star Arnold Schwarzenegger with a top award, the Golden Icon, for his role in film and politics.

Schwarzenegger popularly known as the hardman of cult movies such as the Terminator and Conan the Barbarian.

He served two terms as California governor from 2003 to 2011 before returning to acting in The Expendables.

He said, “I’m happy to be back into acting and that I did my public service. I will be doing many more movies.”
Previous recipients of the Golden Icon have included Diane Keaton and Morgan Freeman.



Austrian-American Schwarzenegger, 68, was presenting his latest film, Maggie, at the festival.

He plays a farmer struggling to look after his dying daughter, played by Little Miss Sunshine actress Abigail Breslin.
In something of a departure for the actor, the film is a horror thriller.

He has also ventured into comedy, with notable films including Twins, with Danny DeVito, and Kindergarten Cop.
He is more commonly associated with action roles, with his major breakthrough 1982’s Conan the Barbarian, which led to a sequel and then to further hit action movies, most notably the Terminator series and Predator.

Schwarzenegger is know worldwide as both actor and politician belie his relatively humble roots. He grew up in rural Austria, the son of the local police chief.

From an early age, he had a keen interest in fitness and bodybuilding and it was this that saw him emigrate to the US.
He made his name and fortune after coming to prominence as the winner of Mr Universe when he was 20.

Last month television network NBC said Schwarzenegger would replace US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as the host of reality show The Celebrity Apprentice.
