MTVMAMAs Trevor Noah Out, Yemi Alade, Bonang And Nomzamo In

 For the very first time ever, the MTVMAMAs will be hosted by 3 Ladies.

Nigerian contemporary artist, Yemi Alade will be MCing this year’s MTVMAMAs alongside South Africans Bonang Matheba and Nomzamo Mbatha.

With just a few hours away, the excitement is in the air and pretty much palpable!

Earlier today, Bonang Matheba was announced as the replacement host for Trevor Noah for the upcoming MTV Africa Music Awards.
The gorgeous radio presenter, entrepreneur and media darling has stepped up to the plate after Trevor Noah was unfortunately forced to withdraw due to ill health.

The news was officially announced by Trevor Noah on his Twitter account on 21 October 2016.

Nigerian singer Yemi Alade and South Africa actress and model Nomzamo Mbatha were also announced as co-hosts of the event.

MTVMAMAs 2016 To have All-Female Hosts

MTV Base Africa made the announcement today, Friday, October 21, 2016 at a press conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, owners of MTV Africa, Alex Okosi confirmed the announcement.

Mr Alex Okosi said:

    “We are thrilled that Bonang Matheba, one of Africa’s most inspiring and luminous media personalities, will be hosting the MTV Africa Music Awards on 22 October.
 “With her extensive presenting experience, personal charm and beauty, Bonang is going to make a fabulous host for MAMA 2016.

    “We look forward to an amazing awards show on 22 October with her at the helm.”

Okosi also expressed disappointment over Trevor Noah’s inability to host the event due to his health challenge.

He, however, wished him a speedy recovery.

This year’s MTVMAMAs will feature performances from African acts including Nasty C, Babes Wodumo, Kenya music group Sauti Sol, Cassper Nyovest, Alikiba.

Also billed to perform are Yemi Alade, Ycee, Wizkid, DJ Maphorisa, and C4 Pedro.

The MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 will air live on MTV (DStv channel 130) and MTV Base (DStv channel 322) from the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg, on Saturday 22 October at 21:00 CAT.

Justin Bieber Still Can’t Stop Saying Sorry, Releases New Song ‘Sorry’

Justin Bieber’s comeback LP Purpose is just a few weeks away, and he’s hammering home the redemptive nature of his return to prominence with a new single called “Sorry.” 

It’s coming complete with a “dance video” on YouTube, which apparently just means the video’s full of skilled dancing and nothing else. (There are no hoverboard-like devices, unfortunately.) 

The song was co-written and produced by Skrillex and Blood Diamonds, among others, and it has the same laid-back, tropical feel that propelled “What Do You Mean?” to #1 on the Billboard charts a few weeks ago. 

It also has the same kind of alien, wordless hook that made earlier Skrillex collaboration “Where Are Ü Now” a hit earlier this year, the sort of melodic snippet he called a “dolphin” in conversation with The New York Times.

If “Sorry” connects with listeners the same way the singles above did — and I’m almost positive it will — it’ll become Bieber’s third top 10 hit in 2015. Purpose will likely spin off a few more hits before it runs its course, too: its tracklist is crammed with hitmakers and trendy producers, including a few more songs from Skrillex and Blood Diamonds.

 The song’s about begging for forgiveness from a lover, but it’s doesn’t take much of a leap to apply its lyrics to Bieber’s career.

 “And let me oh let me / redeem oh redeem oh myself tonight / ’cause I just need one more shot at second chances.” Is he singing to an ex or to listeners around the world? Whatever the answer, it’s obvious Bieber isn’t done apologizing for his bratty history, and it seems like it’s still paying musical dividends.

Music Video: Sarkodie Performs “Mary” With Live Band

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie not long ago released his fourth studio album, “Mary”. The 11-track album was named after his grandmother who passed on years ago. According to Sarkodie, his old lady wanted him to work with live band. In view of that, he decided to release this album with all the tracks recorded live.


Obidi was at University of Ghana, Legon campus for the “Mary” album launch not long ago. Sarkodie together with Efya and Akwaboah performed most of the tracks on the album with live band. Sarkodie at the concert performed the title track of the album “Mary”.
