HOW DARE YOU DECLARE SEPTEMBER 12, PUBLIC HOLIDAY? CHRISTIAN ELDERSTO SULTAN OF SOKOTO

The National Christian Elders’ Forum, NCEF, has question the decision of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III to declare September 12 as public holiday in commemoration of Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of NCEF, Solomon Asemota, SAN, on Monday, the group said, the Sultan’s action was a height of impunity and he had no right to declare or extend public holidays.

According to the group, such announcement was the duty of the Federal Government, adding that such an action did not take place until the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The statement read, “We unequivocally wish to state that it is very improper for the head of the Islamic faith in Nigeria to announce, declare, or extend Public Holidays.

“This is the function of the Federal Government and need not be abdicated. This kind of anomalous development has not been taking place in Nigeria until the advent of the Buhari Administration which has gone to great lengths to deepen religious divide and tension in Nigeria.

“Again, we have no objection whatsoever to the Muslim Public Holiday but our concern is that in a secular society as enshrined in Section 10 of the Constitution, the responsibility of declaring or announcing a religious Public Holiday is vested in the Federal Government and such responsibility is sacrosanct.”

Ghanaian Pastor is Arrested over GH¢11.6 million fraud case and led away in handcuffs (photos)

Controversial founder of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim was escorted in handcuffs and transferred to the Accra Police Headquarters after he reported himself to Tema Regional police station earlier today.

The 'Angel of God' had responded to invitation following complaints made to the police after he publicly flogged two teenage members of his church for alleged fornication and attempted abortion.

The police had given him 24 hour ultimatum to honour their invitation or they will be forced to take action against him.

A video of the man of God flogging the two with a belt went viral on social media recently, drawing widespread criticism but the Bishop defended the action insisting they deserved it for engaging in fornication and attempting an abortion.

However, there is a twist...according to Ghana media, the controversial Preacher is also being interrogated over a GH¢11.6 million fraud case. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) PRO, ASP Joseph Darkwa, said a complainant came to the Tema Police some few weeks ago to report that he gave an amount of GH¢780,000 to Okomfo Gyapata of Mampong Nkwanta near Koforidua in the Eastern Region to do a spiritual ritual to bless the money.

"According to the complainant, after some time, he realised that the Okomfo was not able to help him neither was he able to give him back his money, so he came to Bishop Obinim to report the matter so the Bishop would help him retrieve the money and do the rituals to bless the money for him," he said.

ASP Darkwa said it was based on that that Bishop Obinim asked him to bring the rest of the gold money which amounted to GH¢11.6 million belonging to the family.

The complaint told the police since he gave the money to the Bishop, he has not been able to do what he was expected to do neither was he given his money.

The complainant said he gave the money to Okomfo Gyapata on November 28, 2015, but the money he gave to Bishop Obinim was in June this year.

The CID PRO told Joy News' Dzifa Bampoh on Newsnite that the complainant has not lodged a complaint against Okomfo Gyapata as yet but if it becomes necessary that they have to involve him they would do so.

"We have just commerce investigation into this issue, when we finish we will hand him over to Domestic Violence Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) to investigate the domestic violence issue," ASP Darkwa said.

The congression waiting for him to lead service at the Tema Community 9 branch were disappointed as the junior pastors throng the police station and they registered their disappointment upon seeing him handcuffed into a police car to be transferred to Accra, Joy News reports.

South African pastor dies after 30 days fasting and prayer

A pastor in South Africa who wanted to break the fasting record held by Jesus Christ ended up killing himself from hunger.

A popular pastor in South Africa, Alfred Ndlovu, took the temptation of competing with God too far when he decided to embark on a dry fasting that would break the 40 days and 40 nights Jesus Christ underwent, when he died after just 30 days into the programme.

Buzz South Africa reports that Ndlovu had boasted to his members that he would break the widely acclaimed record Christ held for the longest fasting and retired to a mountain to stay for the record breaking event but after just one month, he was found dead.
It was reported that Ndlovu left his family on June 17, 2016, to the prayer mountain to commence the dry run but on July 17, he was found dead by a hunter who then reported the find to the police who notified the deceased's family and church members.

A church member, while narrating the death of Pastor Ndlovu, said:
"He was a very spiritual man. It's unfortunate he had to die this way. After a month, we got the sad news of his death. Pastor was a healthy and religious old man who did not even look his age."

Do you think this pastor did the right thing by trying to beat Jesus Christ's fasting record?

‘I’ve never heard of Christian terrorists’ – Sultan of Sokoto

Sultan of Sokoto call on the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) General Assembly/National Executive Council meeting in Benin, said there are many bad people who pretend to be a muslim but are not Muslims.

He was quoted saying:
“I’ve never heard of Christian terrorists, but we have heard of so many Christians or adherents of other religions who commit heinous crimes against humanity. But they didn’t claim to do it for their religions and we did not hold the crimes against their religions.

“I am very glad that about two weeks ago, the Pope made a very strong statement defending Islam as a religion of peace. That is Pope, the leader of over two billion Catholics in the world. I think that is a message for all of us whether we are Muslims, Christians, Jews or whatever,” he said.

He added, “As Muslims, we want nothing but a very peaceful and stable Nigeria. Government at all levels should treat Muslims fairly. What is due to Muslims must be given to them. It is not a favour to us; it is our right. And we hold on to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that guarantees freedom of worship.’ he said.

Will Resist Islamization, We Will Fight With The Last Drop Of Our Blood - Christian Leader

Christian leaders in the Nigeria have raised alarm over possible consequences that may arise from the current economy hardship in the country, warning that if things are not done appropriately and urgently, it might lead to dis-orderliness.

The Christian leaders, who converged in Abuja during the weekend at the inaugural meeting of retired leaders of major Catholic denominations in Nigeria under the After Service Leadership Forum (ASLF), said insecurity, hunger, despair and hardship in the land is becoming unbearable.

They vowed to resist any attempts by President Muhammadu Buhari Government to Islamise Nigeria, warning that the aftermath could lead to a religious crisis in the country.

The immediate past Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Sunday Makinde, who spoke to journalists after the meeting, specifically accused President Buhari of being biased in the way he has made recent political appointments.

He said: “The situation of the country right now has become taut. He further advise, Nigerians to be patient. We have been preaching it for so many years. You do not expect something that has been battered for so many years to be fixed immediately. Let us assist this government in prayer.

“I will advice the president to listen to voice of Nigerians. He should not be partisan in his appointments. He should avoid religious or political partisanship. He has said he does not belong to anybody. Let him put that statement in practice. Nigeria belongs to all of us. Nigerians vote him in.

“It appears Buhari belongs to some people that he favours. Let him consult before he makes appointments. Consultation is very important. I am not interested in appointments. There is poverty in the land. There is frustration, insecurity and hunger in the land. People are in despair. Will Resist Islamization - They said.
