Leader Of Hausa State's Call On Buhari To Repair Federal Roads In East

Chairman, Hausa Community Alhaji Adamu Sokoto, in the South-East, has called on the Federal Government to urgently look into road in eastern part of the country and repair federal roads across the zone.

Alhaji Adamu who told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri on Sunday, said that commuters in the zone were experiencing hard times as a result of the deplorable state of roads in the zone.

He said “The condition of roads transportation in the South-Eastern states of Enugu, Imo, Abia, Anambra and Ebonyi is deplorable and it needs urgent attention.

“Traders from other parts of the country who transport cattle, goats, tomatoes, yam and other produce to the zone are lamenting the losses they incur due to the bad roads,’’ he said.

According to him, the deplorable condition of the roads has thrown some people out of business, adding that doing business in the region had become increasingly risky

“But we have the confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari has the good intention to be fair to every section of the country because the Nigerian state is one entity,” he said.

A Woman Undergoes Breast Reduction Surgery After A Hormonal Condition Made Her Boob's Grow To 36NNN

An uncommon hormonal condition made her balloon’s (breast) grow to 36NNN.

A 40-year-old high school social worker from Beaumont, Texas, Kerisha Mark, told The Washington Post that her already-large chest ballooned to size 36NNN due to a rare hormonal condition called Gigantomastia, characterized by excessive breast growth (usually over 3.3 pounds per breast). While it’s not clear what triggered Mark’s condition in her mid-30s, it's was said that puberty or pregnancy can bring about Gigantomastia.

The 40-year-old Kerisha Mark, has 15lbs of tissue removed after hormonal condition causes her bust to balloon. Though many woman long for a bigger breast but not for Kerisha Mark.

Eva Carneiro To Filed A Legal Claim Against Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is to be the subject of an individual legal claim from former Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro in addition to the action she is bringing against the club for constructive dismissal, it can be revealed.

Legal papers will be served on Mourinho this week as part of separate but connected claims against him and against the club.

The claim against Jose Mourinho will be on the basis that he was instrumental in the actions against Carneiro in having her dropped from first-team duties and effectively demoted.

It means the Portuguese manager will have to appear in person at an employment tribunal unless the case is settled out of court beforehand. Under employment law, an individual can be personally liable for damages if victimisation or discrimination can be proved.

The 24th James Bond Adventure Has Breaken Box Office Records

Spectre, the 24th James Bond adventure, has broken all-time box office records in nearly every market in which it has been released so far.

Its UK launch set a new record for movies released on a Monday – as opposed to a Friday – taking more than £41m in its first week.

It beat previous Monday release record holder, 2004’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which took £23.8m.

Records were also set in the Norway, the Netherlands, Finland and Denmark.
Spectre took $80.4m (£52.1m) in all six released territories.

‘Achingly cool’

“We’re so grateful to all our James Bond fans,” producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said.

Skyfall, the previous Bond movie, was the highest-grossing 007 film in the franchise’s history, taking £700m ($1.1 bn) worldwide.

Craig’s fourth outing as 007 has received widespread critical acclaim, with one saluting it as “pure action mayhem”.

The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw described the film in his five-star review as “terrifically exciting, spectacular [and] uproariously entertaining”.

The Times said Sam Mendes’ film was “achingly cool”, while The Independent said it was “every bit the equal of its predecessor”, 2012 release Skyfall.

Spectre also broke opening-day UK box office records after taking £6.3 million by Tuesday.

It opened in 647 cinemas on 2500 screens in the UK, making it the widest release of all time in the UK and Ireland.

The movie opens in the US on 6 November where it is expected to top the box office, after a Halloween weekend of flops.

Sandra Bullock’s Our Brand is Crisis, and Bradley Cooper’s Burnt brought in an underwhelming $3.3m (£2.1m) and $5.1m (£3.3m) respectively.

We’re Ready To Work For Free – Buhari’s Ministers

Following Friday’s pronouncement by President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigeria is broke and he might not be able to pay ministers, some minister-designates have said they are ready to work for free.

Some of the ministers who said this include Mr. Adebayo Shittu and Professor Isaac Adewole.

The ministers, who along with their colleagues are expected to be sworn in and given portfolios any moment from now, described their appointment as a call to service.

Shittu, representing Oyo State at the yet-to-be-constituted Federal Executive Council, said he was ready to give his services free to Nigeria if that was what the situation demanded.
Shittu, a legal practitioner and human rights activist told Sunday Punch that what matters is the intention to serve and not the financial benefits.

He said, “It is an issue of national service. There is nothing too much to sacrifice. If that is what our situation in Nigeria demands, then we must put ourselves up selflessly. We cannot say because of selfishness, we cannot work selflessly.

“With my background as somebody from a very humble family, I know what poverty is and I have been experiencing it. I have been dogged in conforming to the dictates of politics and poverty. There is nothing too much to sacrifice for the service of our people.”

Adewole, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan spoke on Saturday through his media aide, Mr. Sunday Saanu.

According to Saanu, Adewole who is to represent Osun State, is ready to serve the nation without pay.

Saanu said, “It is a great honour to serve one’s fatherland and I can tell you Prof. Adewole is ready to serve Nigeria without collecting salaries.

“Everything is not about money. It is a privilege and a great honour to serve. This is what he was doing at his former school. He was paying some teachers employed to complement government’s efforts.

“ He is not driven by money but passion to make positive impact in the nation in whatever capacity.”

The past governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, also said he did not accept to be a minister for personal and pecuniary gains.

Amaechi, who spoke through his former aide, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, explained that he was interested in the development of Nigeria

He said, “If he (President Buhari) has not said that he would not pay ministers, the question of whether he (Amaechi) will work for free should not be necessary. We know that we are currently dealing with hard times. For us as a country, we will manage our cost.

“He (Amaechi) has never run for anything because he is looking for money. His interest is in the development of Nigeria.”

Another minister-designate, Mr. James Ocholi, said he will not run away from challenges.

He said, “I will not run away from challenges. If the first challenge in the new assignment is to solve the financial crisis of the federation, I will be willing to devote time and attention to solving it before any other national issue.”

Share trading in MTN, Africa’s biggest mobile operator, has restarted after earlier being suspended following a huge fine imposed by Nigerian authorities.

Trading in MTN Group was halted in Johannesburg after the stock fell 8%.

Dealings later started again after the company said it was in talks with Nigerian authorities about reducing the record $5.2bn (£2.7bn) fine.

The sum amounts to double MTN’s annual profits last year.

The Nigerian Communications Commission imposed the penalty for failing to cut off unregistered mobile users, giving MTN just two weeks to pay.


The company said on Monday it was in talks with the Nigerian presidency, internal security agency and the communications regulator about the fine.

Chief executive Sifiso Dabengwa, who used to run the company’s Nigerian operations, is understood to have flown to Abuja in a bid to negotiate a lower penalty.

Nigeria is MTN’s biggest market, with 28.5 million subscribers, followed by Iran and South Africa.

The company’s shares had fallen by about 25% since the fine was announced on Monday last week, wiping about 60bn rand (£2.7bn) off its market value, with the company now worth about £13bn.

The stock was down 5.5% after trading recommenced.

There’s more to this story than meets the eye. It’s not simply a case of a company failing foul of regulatory authorities and getting a slap on the wrist – some analysts say this $5.2bn slap is enough to break or seriously bruise MTN’s wrist.

The fine was imposed because MTN failed to cut off unregistered SIM cards, which was regarded as crucial to limiting the communications of Nigeria’s various armed criminal and terrorist groups.

It is thought that the kidnapping of a former finance minister, Chief Olu Falae, was the thin end of the wedge for the Nigerian authorities.

He was taken by armed men at the end of the September. It transpired that the phone the kidnappers were using to communicate their ransom demands had an unregistered SIM card from MTN.

That is when the Nigerian government is thought to have finally run out of patience with the mobile operator.

Admired and valued

MTN has 231 million subscribers in 22 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

In September, the company was named as most admired brand in Africa in the Brand Africa 100 awards, beating Samsung, while it was also awarded the continent’s most valuable brand – worth $4.6bn (£3bn).

MTN was South Africa’s second mobile operator when it was set up in 1994 after the fall of apartheid.

It began its expansion across Africa four years later with operations in Rwanda, Uganda and Swaziland.

Asamoah Gyan has been named as Africa’s highest paid footballer, the Ghana captain’s staggering £226,923.07 ($350,000 or GH¢1.429,615.03) a week salary in China placing him just above Ivory Coast captain, Yaya Toure who earns £220,000.00 weekly.

This was revealed by UK based website, Thekingmaker.me’s ratings of 200 best paid footballers in the world today in a list that included highest paid football coaches as well.

Gyan is number 6 in the world behind Lionel Messi (£313,461.00), Cristiano Ronaldo (£288,000.00), Wayne Rooney (£285,000.00), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£275,000.00) and (Gareth Bale £256,000.00) with Yaya Toure just coming in at number 7.
Sergio Agüero (£220,000.00), David de Gea (£200,000.00) and Bastian Schweinsteiger £200,000.00 complete the Top 10 even though number 11, Eden Hazard and 12th, Luis Suárez both also earn £200,000.00 in weekly wages.

Conspicuously missing from the list however are Sulley Ali Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng who both reportedly earn over £100,000.00 weekly wages each even though KP’s brother, Jérôme Boateng is named at number 154 on a weekly wage of £64,800.00 at Bayern Munich.

Michael Essien however is the only other Ghanaian named in the list of 200 highest paid footballers at number 176 on £60,000.00 (GH¢378,000) a week.
On an African perspective, Emmanuel Adebayor is the 3rd highest paid player from the continent on £101,000.00 weekly (66th in the world) even though he remains unattached after his paying club, Tottenham Hotspurs failed to register him for competition this season.

Google Services Set To Re-Expand It's Presence In China

Google is planning to expand its presence in China, Eric Schmidt, chairman of the search giant’s holding company, has said.

Google search left the Chinese mainland in 2010, after the company said it would no longer self-censor results.

It also accused the Chinese government of being behind a cyber-attack on it and many other tech companies.

Mr Schmidt echoed comments by Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who said last week some services would return.


During a speech at the Tech Crunch Beijing conference, Mr Schmidt said Google had a lot of partners in China and was in regular contact with the country’s government about its presence and services.

“The interesting thing is that Google never left China,” he said.

Its presence in the country helped it maintain contact with Chinese companies keen to advertise on Google’s services outside the country, Mr Schmidt said.

He did not provide details of what Google planned to expand or launch on the Chinese mainland.

However, industry watchers said it was likely that a Chinese version of Google’s Android Play store for apps would be one of the first.

China is a key market for many companies because of its large population and its appetite for hi-tech goods.

Mr Brin said last week that Google’s recent re-structuring had given the company’s units more independence, which might mean some launch in China before others.

Each Alphabet business could now make its own decision about where it operated, he told the Wall Street Journal.

27 Killed, Over 180 Injured In Fire at Bucharest Heavy Metal Concert

Over 180 people also injured after stage pyrotechnics ignite fire inside Romanian nightclub.
At least 27 people were killed and over 180 injured after a deadly fire and stampede broke out during a free heavy metal concert at a Bucharest, Romania nightclub. According to multiple reports, the blaze during the band Goodbye to Gravity's set was caused by stage pyrotechnics that ignited a pair of columns covered in foam insulation in the Soviet-era factory-turned-venue Colectiv, The Telegraph reports.
Photos from inside the venue before the fire spread show the flames climbing the pillars next to the stage up toward the ceiling. "The lead singer made a quick joke: 'This wasn't part of the program.' The next second, he realized it wasn't a joke and asked for a fire extinguisher," Delia Tugui, who was at the Friday night concert, wrote on her Facebook page (via The Associated Press). "In 30 seconds... the fire spread all over the ceiling. People rushed to the entrance but it was too narrow, and people panicked. Behind me people stampeded, climbing over each other, to try and get out."

The Telegraph writes that only one exit was available, forcing the crowd of over 300 people to funnel through that one door. However, once that exit door was opened, the venue filled with oxygen, which further fueled the fire.

Goodbye to Gravity's guitarists Vlad Telea and Mihai Alexandru were reportedly killed in the fire, while the band's singer Andrei Galut was hospitalized with serious burns to 45 percent of his body as well as injuries stemming from smoke inhalation, Blabbermouth reports. Bassist Alex Pascu is also reportedly underwent emergency surgery at a nearby hospital for undisclosed injuries. In 2008, Galut won Romania's Megastar singing competition.

The incident was the worst of its kind in Romania's history and is reminiscent of the February 2003 nightclub fire at a Great White concert in Rhode Island, where onstage pyrotechnics caused a fire that killed 100 people. "I am saddened, but also revolted that a tragedy of this scale could have taken place in Bucharest," Romanian president Klaus Iohannis said in a statement. "We already have indications that the legal regulations had not been respected. I hope that the authorities manage their inquiry with speed and rigor."

Three days of mourning in the Romanian capital are planned for the victims of the Colectiv fire, including a candlelight vigil Saturday outside the venue. "At this point we have to show respect for the dead, to understand how it happened and what we can do in the future to avoid such tragic events," Romania's prime minister Victor Ponta said.

Donald Trump Says 'No Thanks' to John Oliver's 'Very Boring' Show

'Last Week Tonight' host says of Republican candidate, "He's an open book, and that book doesn't have many interesting words in it"

John Oliver recently told Stephen Colbert that he "couldn't give less of a shit" about Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump. In a visit to CBS This Morning Friday, the Last Week Tonight host reiterated that he doesn't "even care about [Trump]" and, when asked whether he'd want the mogul to appear on his show, Oliver firmly responded "No." However, Trump responded by revealing that Last Week Tonight producers did ask him to come on the HBO series, and that he declined the invitation in his typical disparaging terms.

"John Oliver had his people call to ask me to be on his very boring and low-rated show," Trump tweeted Saturday. "I said 'NO THANKS' Waste of time & energy!" Trump was also scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October but cancelled last-minute due to "cryptic" scheduling conflicts. Barring any unexpected setbacks, Trump willserve as host of the November 7th episode of Saturday Night Live.

He's an open book, and that book doesn't have many interesting words in it."
