Breaking News: Boko Haram Invade Military Camp, Kidnap Many Soldiers

In a report from the Army has disclosed that one of the military camp in Gashigar, a northern Borno community that borders the Niger Republic has been raided by Boko Haram insurgents.
According to a statement signed by the, acting Director of Army Public Relations,  Colonel Sani K. Usman, the insurgents launched their attack on the soldiers at their position at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 17, wounding 13 soldiers and taking away an unspecified number of Nigerian soldiers. Mr. Usman, a colonel, described the attackers as “escaping remnants of Boko Haram.”

The troops, said in a statement said, they did their best to defend the location but could not, “In the process, 13 soldiers sustained injuries while some are still missing in action. The temporary setback made the troops withdraw from the location,” the statement said.

In a statement, Usman said, the troops suffered a “temporary setback” and had to withdraw from the location.
“However, the wounded soldiers have been evacuated and receiving treatment, while efforts are ongoing in search of those missing and clear the Boko Haram terrorists in the general area.”

The constant attacks by the Boko Haram terrorists in northern part of the country has led to the death of  thousand Nigerians, lost of properties and displacement of millions of others.Their recent attack on the Nigerian military comes one week after one faction of the insurgents released 21 of more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped from Chibok Girls’ Secondary School in Bornu State, in April 2014, following their negotiation with the Federal Government.

This Boko Haram’s attack on Gashigar is the third reported attack on the Nigerian military camp after months of a lull during which the Islamic extremists hit soft civilian targets. Despite the negotiation between the FG and the set, despite losing initially claimed territory to the Nigerian forces, the group still carries out attacks like that of Monday.
