Some political thugs in Akwa Ibom State on Friday evening attacked the Secretariat of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) located along Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo ahead of the December 2nd Local Government Elections in the State..
Eyewitnesses report that the miscreants began to hurl stones at the building and personnel of the commission at about 6pm.
No one was reported dead in the attack but scores of persons were reportedly injured from the stones and broken bottles which were flying freely int the area.
The thugs, who according to eyewitnesses were chanting “No Election” said they will stop the elections from taking place.
